The College of Nursing offers free continuing education (CE) courses to our preceptors in gratitude for your role in educating the next generation of nursing professionals. The free CE courses are also available to other health care professionals.
Continuing Competency Requirements. Washington nurses must meet continuing education and practice requirements to renew their license. These requirements must be done in the renewal period and can't carry over. For more information see the Continuing Competency FAQ (PDF)
At Washington State University, students spend two years on their general university requirements and nursing prerequisites. Those can be done at Pullman, Tri-Cities, or through equivalent transfer coursework from outside WSU.
STATE CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS FOR NURSING. This list comes from AAACEUs and is a list of all continuing education (CE) requirements for registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) by state (AAACEUs, n.d.). Twenty-four contact hours every 2 years for RNs.
Registered nurses in Washington state must meet practice and continuing education requirements each year. RNs and LPNs are required to have 96 hours of active practice and 8 hours of continuing education each year. An e-Notify registration and Nursys online survey is also required.
