I think a remake (option 2) makes more sense though. They could tight everything up a bit, make it 10 episodes per season. On a streaming service, it could pick up new viewers more easily and go farther than it did the first time.

Jericho was a much better take on post apocalyptic life than walking dead was, but the problem they had was the studio cancelling them. Season 2 was so monumentally shit compared to the first one, and I didn't even get around to buying or reading the comics for season 3.
