It contains a 143-acre lake, two family campgrounds and one group campground, beach and swim area, multiple picnic areas, fishing, boating, hiking, scenic overlook and an archery trail. This recreation area is home to the 46-mile Lake Vesuvius Horse Trail System, open from early spring to winter.

29 Οκτ 2024 · Welcome to the Texas Paddling Trails, a paddler’s paradise encompassing 80 well-mapped trails, each offering a unique experience for canoe and kayak enthusiasts. Established by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) in 1998, this program encourages both exploration and conservation of Texas’ rivers, lakes, and coastal waterways.

There are over 400 miles of trails on the forest for hiking, off-highway vehicle (OHV) riding, mountain biking or horseback riding. Wayne National Forest trails are open to foot travel year-round. Trails seasonally close to mountain bike, equestrian and off-highway vehicle use from winter to early spring.

There are over 300 miles of trails for various recreational pursuits, including biking, horseback riding, and off-road vehicles. Visitors are welcome to camp, hike, canoe, fish and hunt. Wayne National Forest was established in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in 1934 and named for American Revolutionary War hero Anthony Wayne.
