24 Νοε 2013 · Well look no further! The following series of posts will illustrate how to disassemble, clean, refurbish, and otherwise condition a Western Electric 500 telephone. The goal is to create documentation "for the beginner" to use for their first telephone project.
These parts are for candlestick telephones and wood wall phones as well as old classic telephones like the Western Electric 202, 102, 302 telephone, rotary dial 500 series telephones and 2500 touch tone telephones. Most of our antique telephone parts are original.

(M = modular, W = without Bell System markings) Sets sold outside the Bell System were not covered in BSPs, but were supplied with one page wiring diagrams inserted in the box with the phone.
14 Μαρ 2009 · Choose the diagram that matches your wiring scheme (102 or 202). Once the phone is wired properly, it's ready to be connected to a subset and placed in service. A note about the telephone diagrams: The M1E cords (dial cords) are shown in blue and purple for clarity. In reality, both cords are black.
28 Μαΐ 2024 · The 300 series was Western's first desk set family that included the ringer, coil and capacitor in the base, forming a complete phone in one package. Previous models required an external subscriber set (subset), which contained these components.

The 500 was the Bell System's mainstay phone for decades, first as a rotary dial and then push-button, in many colors. Like its predecessor, the WE 302, it was designed by industrial designer Henry Dreyfuss.
