The roles of ligaments (dense regular connective tissue that anchors bone to bone), tendons (dense regular connective tissue that connects muscle to bone), and other connective tissue structures associated with the skeletal system are described in section 9.4a. Describe the general functions of bone.
The ligaments are closely related to the skeletal system and are vital to the function of it. They are specifically associated with joints. A ligament is a band of white, fibrous, slightly elastic tissue that binds the ends of bones together.
A dense, hard type of bone constructed from osteons (at the microscopic level). Compact bone forms the diaphysis of the the long bones, and the outer shell of the epiphyses and all other bones. Composed of haversian systems that run lengthwise with the bone. Haversian Systems.
3 Νοε 2023 · Ligaments are soft-tissue components of the musculoskeletal system. They share this soft-tissue categorization with tendons and fasciae, since they all are made out of connective tissue . The difference between ligaments and tendons lies simply in the type of elements they connect and support:
Ligaments and tendons, strong connective tissues, link bones and muscles. Bones meet at joints, which come in three types: synarthroses (immovable, like in the skull), amphiarthroses (slightly movable, like vertebral joints), and synovial joints (highly movable, like shoulders and hips).
