One is that atmospheric pressure is dramatically reduced at high altitudes, so a helium balloon expands as it rises and eventually explodes. If you inflate a balloon beyond its limits at room temperature, it will break into small pieces up to about ten centimetres long.
22 Νοε 2018 · Meet the woman who is on a mission to save marine life by using the big screen to expose the dangers of helium balloons and their impact on the oceans.
Watching them fly off up into the sky, there seems no limit to how high a helium balloon can go. In reality, there are two major constraints: the strength of the balloon material, and Archimedes’s principle. As a balloon ascends, the pressure of the surrounding air drops while the helium inside expands. Toy balloons burst at around 10km ...
24 Απρ 2023 · As long as the helium plus the balloon is lighter than the air it displaces, the balloon will float in the air. Most of us feel comfortable with the idea of something floating in water. In fact, people themselves float in water, so we have a way of directly experiencing water flotation.
24 Απρ 2023 · The helium that is there comes from alpha particles emitted by radioactive decay (see How Nuclear Radiation Works for details on alpha decay). In places that have a lot of uranium ore, natural gas tends to contain high concentrations of helium (up to 7 percent).
19 Οκτ 2023 · What is helium used for, and where does it come from? Learn facts about this noble gas, including how it causes balloons to float, its surprising uses in medicine and exploration, and how its limited availability on Earth could affect science and industry.
