Intervention research examines the effects of an intervention on an outcome of interest. The primary purpose of intervention research is to engender a desirable outcome for individuals in need (e.g., reduce depressive symptoms or strengthen reading skills).
7 Ιουλ 2021 · Most research methods textbooks simply describe how an intervention is incorporated into a research study design (Johnson & Christensen, 2016), but rarely discuss steps on how to plan and develop an intervention study, leaving instructors without a guide to mentor students throughout the process.
In this article, we take a closer look at several features which are important to ensure that the findings of such a study represent the real effect of an intervention, such as allocation concealment, blinding, compliance to intervention, the use of co-interventions and participant dropout rate.
