16 Αυγ 2013 · Answer: The presence of Staphylococcus aureus in the urine should prompt a search for another site of infection. Urine is not typically the primary source of staphylococcal infection, unless the patient has an indwelling Foley catheter or recently underwent a genitourinary procedure.
11 Ιαν 2023 · Staphylococcus aureus is isolated in around 0.2%–4% of positive urinary cultures, more commonly in the contexts of long-term care, urological abnormalities and procedures, male sex, older age and comorbidities.
11 Νοε 2017 · S. aureus is an uncommon isolate in urine cultures. It is more common among certain patients, e.g., patients with indwelling urinary tract devices or prior urinary tract instrumentation. SABU may represent asymptomatic bacteriuria, primary urinary tract infection, or hematogenous seeding of the urinary tract associated with other foci of infection.
The pathogenesis of staphylococci in the urinary tract is complex and associated with virulence factors, including bacterial adhesion, biofilm formation in renal cells and antibiotic resistance. The global public health crisis caused by MDR Staphylococcus remains an ongoing concern.

7 Ιουν 2019 · Urinary tract infection (UTI) is frequently diagnosed in the Emergency Department (ED). Staphylococcus aureus (SA) is an uncommon isolate in urine cultures (0.5–6% of positive urine cultures), except in patients with risk factors for urinary tract colonization.
Here we review the epidemiology, virulence mechanisms, and host response to the most frequently isolated Gram-positive uropathogens: Staphylococcus saprophyticus, Enterococcus faecalis, and Streptococcus agalactiae.
