18 Ιουν 2020 · McAfee Stinger is (or was) a stand-alone, on-demand AV scanner. Nothing ran in real-time, which is the way I like it. However, a recent change to the... You can use its BB in real-time protection and as an on-demand scanner/cleaner as well. Take note from below. UPDATE: Please read the comment below.
21 Φεβ 2015 · Today, I launched the most recent version of Stinger that I have, 12.2.2.709 with a build date of Jan. 8, 2024. (I downloaded it on January 12.) As usual, Stinger offered to download a newer version, so I let it do its thing. My browser landed on the McAfee home page (www.mcafee.com).

It detects and removes threats identified under the "Threat List" option under Advanced menu options in the Stinger application. Stinger now detects and removes GameOver Zeus and CryptoLocker.

We're looking at Microsoft Safety Scanner, McAfee Stinger or MalwareBytes (with purchased licenses). We're about to go infect a VM with some malware to test the remediation, but it occurred to me that many people have already walked this road.
