30 Ιαν 2011 · Because of the shorter shelf life of fresh milk, Italian milk is sold almost exclusively in 1-liter containers. UHT milk is also sold in 1-liter containers because of its limited expiry time once opened. North American milk instead supports larger formats up to 4 liters, or 1 gallon (in the U.S.).
The most durable form of milk is powdered milk, which is produced from milk by removing almost all water. The moisture content is usually less than 5% in both drum- and spray-dried powdered milk. Freezing of milk can cause fat globule aggregation upon thawing, resulting in milky layers and butterfat lumps.
The blue one is full fat milk (“latte intero”), the pink/red one is semi-skimmed milk (“latte parzialmente scremato”) and the green one is skimmed milk (“latte scremato”). Caps or in general markings on bottles: Red full fat (3.5%). Yellow semi-skimmed (1.5-2%). Not a rule.
21 Αυγ 2020 · This is confirmed by a survey made by Ismea on European Commission data. The first two months of 2020 confirmed the positive trend of milk production. In Italy, cow’s milk deliveries were up 4.1% in January and February, compared with almost zero growth (0.1%) in the same period of 2019.
