7 Φεβ 2023 · You’ll know which one you have because your measuring tape will either have 15 small lines between each large number or it will have 31. Since 1/16” is most common, we’ll start there. The large numbers, and the longest lines refer to an inch. 1 = 1”, 2 = 2”, and so on.
20 Μαρ 2023 · To read a measuring tape, you need to understand what all the markings mean. The large ticks are spaced 1″ apart, and the small ticks are all spaced fractions of an inch apart. The numbers next to the large ticks indicate the number of inches from the end of the tape measure.
25 Νοε 2024 · A standard tape measure in the United States uses inches as the base for measurement with sixteen tick marks in between each inch marker. The smallest tick marks denote the odd numbered sixteenth marks such as 1/16, 3/16 up to 15/16.
31 Μαΐ 2007 · Counting the smallest hash marks is tedious. An easier way to use them is to look at the nearest larger hash mark and convert it to sixteenths, then add or subtract 1/16. For example, 1/2 inch equals 8/16. If something measures one hash mark beyond the 1/2-inch mark, it is 9/16 inch.
