1 Ιαν 2014 · Mentoring is a biblical idea. Although the word "mentor" itself is never used in Scripture, the principles applied when using that terminology are found throughout the biblical text. We see numerous examples of mentoring relationships taking place throughout the Bible.
A Christian mentor is a Jesus follower who helps others follow Jesus in a one-on-one setting. They regularly spend time with their mentee (the person they mentor), sharing stories, teaching, and encouraging their spiritual growth.
You can offer wise, Biblical counsel, but your role in your disciple’s life is a spiritual mentor, not counselor. The three areas that you can provide assistance are 1) in prayer, 2) finding out what God’s Word says about an issue, and 3) personal life experiences that relate.
Mentoring is the activity of fostering growth in a man’s life through a relationship with another man, who has potentially helpful resources to offer him. In the Bible, it is clear that God doesn’t intend for you to live this life on your own but to partner with others for encouragement.
