I use an iPad for a lot at work and knew you previously could use a CAC reader by paying $150 for a special one and downloading custom software from either Thurbsy (Identiv now) or TwoCanoes, but now you can use any USB-C or lighting reader on iPad and iPhone.
Works well and I can get to all CAC-enabled web sites. Their email function also allows me to check/send encrypted email. It was like $140, but the convenience for me is worth it.
