I use an iPad for a lot at work and knew you previously could use a CAC reader by paying $150 for a special one and downloading custom software from either Thurbsy (Identiv now) or TwoCanoes, but now you can use any USB-C or lighting reader on iPad and iPhone.
I can answer this. You need to get a Thursby CAC reader for apple. Download their subrosa software. The free one. The 99 dollar app just let's you use other readers. Thats the only difference(fucking capitalists). Now use the subrosa software. It will pull your certs. It also has bookmarks for all military websites.

8 Σεπ 2010 · When you say CAC functionality through the iPad, what are your exact requirements? A secure CAC enabled web browser for access to sites such as AKO or the Air Force portal? A stand-alone secure mail app running on the iPhone?
I use a USB C CAC Reader with my iPad Pro 2022 without any additional software in order to access CAC enabled sites including outlook. Plenty on Amazon, be sure to purchase one that is made on the approved list (FIPS 201); aka not made in China.
