25 Φεβ 2016 · Matching on factors such as age and sex is commonly used in case-control studies. 1 This can be done for convenience (eg, choosing a control admitted to hospital on the same day as the case), to improve study efficiency by improving precision (under certain conditions) when controlling for the matching factors (eg, age, sex) in the analysis, or ...

4 Φεβ 2023 · Case-control studies are a type of observational study often used in fields like medical research, environmental health, or epidemiology. While most observational studies are qualitative in nature, case-control studies can also be quantitative, and they often are in healthcare settings.
Matching is a technique by which patients with and without an outcome of interest (in case-control studies) or patients with and without an exposure of interest (in cohort studies) are sampled from an underlying cohort to have the same or similar distributions of characteristics such as age and sex.
5 Απρ 2014 · • The simplest type of matched case-control study takes a matched-pair form, in which each matched set comprises one case and one control. • Matched case-control studies require a special form of analysis.
The Matched Pair Case-Control Study calculates the statistical relationship between exposures and the likelihood of becoming ill in a given patient population. This study is used to investigate a cause of an illness by selecting a non-ill person as the control and matching the control to a case.
31 Ιουλ 2023 · A case-control study is a research method where two groups of people are compared – those with the condition (cases) and those without (controls). By looking at their past, researchers try to identify what factors might have contributed to the condition in the ‘case’ group.
