If you’re having surgery, you may wonder if you need a heart stress test beforehand. It may seem like a good way to ensure a safe surgery. But you probably do not need the test if you are healthy, active, and feeling well, or if you’re having minor surgery.
11 Ιουλ 2019 · The objective of this study is to assess the type and quality of available evidence in a comprehensive and statistically rigorous evaluation regarding the effectiveness of pre-operative stress testing in reducing 30-day post -operative mortality following non -cardiac surgery.
6 Μαρ 2024 · Some patients undergoing noncardiac surgery are at risk for an adverse cardiovascular event (ie, myocardial ischemia, myocardial infarction [MI], heart failure, arrhythmia, stroke, or cardiac death). The risk is related to patient- and surgery-specific factors.
17 Ιουν 2008 · The use of preoperative noninvasive stress testing to detect myocardial ischemia, both exercise and pharmacological, with and without imaging is discussed extensively.
18 Ιαν 2010 · The aim of preoperative stress testing is to reduce morbidity and mortality after major non-cardiac surgery, but a positive test often results in delay of surgery and subsequent coronary or pharmacological interventions.
24 Φεβ 2020 · American and European guidelines define when stress testing is needed on the basis of functional capacity assessment.
12 Μαρ 2002 · In most ambulatory patients, the test of choice is exercise ECG testing, which can both provide an estimate of functional capacity and detect myocardial ischemia through changes in the ECG and hemodynamic response.
