Mousetrap Car - Explained: The mousetrap car project is a classic physics challenge: Build a vehicle that can travel as far or as fast as possible by using only the energy that can be stored in a single mousetrap.
When we first received 3D printers I was very excited to develop new curriculum for my courses. After some thought on how to incorporate the 3D printers I put a new twist on an old project. In this instructable I will be covering the steps on how to design and build a 3D printed mousetrap car.
The mousetrap car project is an awesome way for young students to learn how to tweak different variables in order to enhance the performance of a vehicle design. We will learn how to build a mouse trap car that can go as far as possible in 4 easy steps, and how to calculate the mechanical advantage of your design.
You can grab a FREE DOWNLOAD of the MOUSETRAP CAR PROJECT! This package includes a Project Overview, a Design Proposal/Brainstorming page, a Race Day Data Tables page, and a Self-Assessment and Reflection page.
Mousetraps can be used to power a car! This project results in a simple mousetrap car. It probably won’t go very far or fast, but you can see how stored, potential energy is converted into kinetic energy.
9 Δεκ 2011 · Mouse Trap Car. This is close replica of a mouse trap car that I made for a school project. Design constraints required that the car fit in a 100x200x100 mm box. The car was one of four devices in a relay race, so that is the reason for the rear bumper/trigger. The car easily went the required 3 meter distance.
