19 Ιαν 2024 · What is a Warning Line System? A warning line system is a flagged line set up around the perimeter of a roof designed to alert workers that they are approaching an unprotected edge.
Warning line systems are considered to be an acceptable means of fall protection for employees who are engaged in roofing activities on surfaces with unprotected sides that are 6 feet or more above lower levels.
OSHA defines a warning line system as a barrier erected on a roof to warn workers that they are approaching an unprotected roof side or edge, and to designate an area in which roofing work may take place without the use of guardrails, body harnesses, safety net, or safety warning systems to protect workers in the area. 29 CFR 1926.502 (f).
Warning Lines are passive restraint fall protection systems that serve as visual reminders of defined work areas, marking areas where workers do not belong.
A warning line system is a barrier erected on a flat or low- sloped roof to warn workers that they are approaching an unprotected roof side or edge (see 29 CFR 1926.500(b); 29 CFR 1926.501(b)(10); Figure 11).
Warning line systems are made up of lines or ropes installed around a work area on a roof. These act as a barrier to prevent those working on the roof from approaching its edges.
