5 Μαΐ 2022 · Aesthetic reading was defined as the type of reading that readers engaged in when reading for emotional enjoyment. We currently refer to this as reading for pleasure or enjoyment.
Aesthetic reading often involves appreciating the beauty of language, imagery, and other artistic elements present in literature. Unlike analytical reading, which seeks to evaluate or critique the text, aesthetic reading fosters a more personal and subjective relationship with the work.
Aesthetic readers outperformed efferent readers on all tests of English literacy (table 1), a result similar to that reported in Sullivan and Brown (2014) for vocabulary development in English as a first language.
Efferent vs. Aesthetic Reading. Louise Rosenblatt [110] explains that readers approach the work in ways that can be viewed as aesthetic or efferent. The question is why the reader is reading and what the reader aims to get out of the reading.

What is Aesthetic Reading? The main goal of aesthetic reading is to notice the nuances of the writing in a particular discipline. To read aesthetically, focus on the readability, clarity, and effectiveness of a piece, as well as the strategies used to achieve those things.
