What does the word, “Allah” mean? Allah is the name of the God Almighty in the Arabic Language. Allah is the personal name of God. The word Allah is never used for any other being or thing.
WHO IS ALLAH اللّهَ? The Arabic word Allah literally means “The God”. Believers in Islam understand Allah to be the proper name for the Creator as found in the Qur’an. The name Allah is analogous to Eloh, a Semitic term found in the divine scriptures revealed to Muhammad’s predecessors Moses and Jesus (may peace be upon them all).
God (Allah) has many names, and all of them indicate His Greatness, His Perfection and His Majesty. Prophet Muhammad said “God has ninety-nine names, one hundred less one; whoever learns them will enter Paradise.”
The word "Allah" now implies the superiority or sole existence of one God, [10] but among the pre-Islamic Arabs, Allah was a supreme deity and was worshipped alongside lesser deities in a pantheon. [11] When Muhammad founded Islam, he used "Allah" to refer to the same unitary God who met Abraham, according to the Bible and the Quran.
