11 Αυγ 2021 · What is the ECS? The ECS comprises a vast network of chemical signals and cellular receptors that are densely packed throughout our brains and bodies. The "cannabinoid" receptors in the brain — the CB1 receptors — outnumber many of the other receptor types on the brain.
This review will focus on how marijuana and its biological target, the Endocannabinoid System (ECS), interface with the female reproductive system. This discussion will cover the impact of marijuana on the menstrual cycle, fertility and pregnancy, as well as the role of the ECS in each of these processes.
30 Αυγ 2021 · This review summarizes the known impacts of cannabis on thyroid, adrenal, and gonadal function in addition to glucose control, lipids, and bone metabolism, including: reduced female fertility, increased risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes, reduced sperm counts and function, lower thyroid hormone levels with acute use, blunting of stress response ...
27 Φεβ 2021 · Two of the most well-known cannabinoids include tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). They can also bind to cannabinoid receptors and produce similar effects to...
Expression of cannabinoid type 1 and type 2 (CB 1 and CB 2) receptors in neural tissue. The endocannabinoid system is present in neurons, astrocytes, oligodendrocytes, oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs), and microglia.
10 Μαΐ 2024 · Cannabinoids are a group of chemicals or compounds found in the cannabis sativa plant. They are often looked at for potential therapeutic uses in pain, epilepsy, and anxiety. Learn more about its current uses, safety and side effect profile, and why more research is needed.
While our current knowledge of minor cannabinoid pharmacology is incomplete, studies demonstrate that they act as agonists and antagonists at multiple targets including CB1 and CB2 receptors, transient receptor potential (TRP) channels, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs), serotonin 5-HT 1a receptors and others.
