MSI and MMR testing: Breast cancer cells might be tested to see if they show high levels of gene changes called microsatellite instability (MSI). Testing might also be done to see if the cancer cells have changes in any of the mismatch repair (MMR) genes ( MLH1 , MSH2 , MSH6 , and PMS2 ).
