The other industries included in this sector are food and service management, leisure, bars, night clubs, amusement parks, motels, hostels, restaurants, self-catering accommodation, holiday centers and travel agents.
A manager in the hospitality industry, therefore, must keep in mind the following three objectives: 1) Making the customers feel welcome personally; 2) Making things work for the customers; and 3) Making sure that the operation will continue to provide service and meet its budget.
The core departments include food and beverage, rooms division, and administrative departments like accounting, human resources, and purchasing. The rooms division has several sections like front office, housekeeping, security, and engineering that work to accommodate guests and maintain hotel rooms and facilities.
