The active drag coefficient (Cd) is the overall best measure of a swimmer’s technique. The more effective the technique, the lower the Cd. There is a considerable range of Cd values – from over 2.0 for a very ineffective technique to under .7 for very effective technique.
5 Ιουλ 2023 · Comparing results with established active drag methods, such as the Velocity Perturbation Method (VPM), shows agreement in the magnitude of the mean active drag forces.
22 Μαρ 2018 · Experimental and numerical studies are discussed, examining the effects of hand orientation, thumb position, finger spread, sculling movements, and hand accelerations during swimming, as well as unsteady properties of vortices due to changes in hand orientation.
1 Φεβ 2014 · Resistive or drag forces encountered during free swimming greatly influence the swim performance of elite competitive swimmers. The benefits in understanding the factors which affect the...
19 Οκτ 2022 · Drag is greater in adults than in children and greater in men than in women across all age groups. The study of drag is increasingly essential to collaborate with coaches in the process of understanding the fundamental patterns of movement biomechanics to achieve the best performance in swimming.
19 Νοε 2018 · Drag is the resistant force that opposes a swimmer displacing through water and significantly affects swimming performance. Drag experienced during active swimming is called active drag (D a), and its direct determination is still controversial.
1 Μαρ 2023 · For better reliability and accuracy of measurements, a standard variant of SPM was developed to measure automatically active drag (Fr(ad)), dimensionless coefficient of hydrodynamic force (Cx) and total external mechanical power Pto in different competitive swimming techniques during a single 50 m trial.
