Abstract. Traditionally, ecology has emphasized the study of organism–environment relationships. Ecological psychology focuses specifically on the interdependence of humans and their environments, typically studied under real-world conditions rather than in the laboratory.
1 Οκτ 2024 · The journal publishes theoretical, experimental and methodological articles that address the processes underlying behavior from an ecological point of view. The intent of the journal is to provide a forum for investigations that expand the boundaries of cognitive systems to include not only the brain but the body and the environment as well.
It describes the genesis of ecological psychology in James's radical empiricism; addresses Holt's neorealism and Gestalt psychology; and synthesizes Gibson's ecological psychology and Barker's ecobehavioral science as a means for understanding everyday human behavior.
6 Ιουλ 2020 · Defining the environment as an organism’s developmental niche makes it clearer how and why certain contingencies have arisen, in turn, strengthening a joint appeal to both enactivism and ecological psychology as theories asserting complementarity between organisms and their environments.
As a science, ecological psychology in its variations adheres to the ethical practices of the sciences involving human research. Participants’ anonymity is protected, and whenever possible, participants’ informed consent is obtained.
