Basically every modern Mac with an embedded screen supports HDCP. iTunes will play all copy protected HD content on all integrated displays (MacBooks and iMacs) but not on non HDCP displays.

HDCP is a digital content protection standard. When playing HDCP content, all playback devices need to be HDCP compliant and have compatible HDCP versions, or it may cause HDCP issues.
This was with zero HDCP media playing on the MacBook, only showing the desktop. I tried every combination of enabling/disabling HDCP in the Extron scaler. I tried removing the Extron scaler from the system, just using the split and ignoring scaling issues.

If you are trying to connect an external monitor or TV, it depend on the TV, but usually HDMI to HDMI meets the guidelines.
