What is a neap tide? When the sun and moons are at right angles to each other, there is least gravitational pull, meaning the tidal range is at its lowest. The neap tide occurs 7 days after the spring tide.
Neap tides are tides that have the smallest tidal range, and occur when the Earth, the Moon, and the Sun form a 90° angle. They occur exactly halfway between the spring tides, when the Moon is at first or last quarter.
