What are Pebax® elastomers? Pebax® elastomers are block copolymers that offer the best combination of performance (mechanical, chemical, processing) among thermoplastic elastomers (TPE). The name Pebax® is derived from its own chemistry, polyether block amide.
Polyether block amide or PEBA is a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE). It is known under the tradename of PEBAX® (Arkema) and VESTAMID® E (Evonik Industries). It is a block copolymer obtained by polycondensation of a carboxylic acid polyamide (PA6, PA11, PA12) with an alcohol termination polyether (Polytetramethylene glycol PTMG), PEG).

Polyether block amide Pebax® 7233 SP 01 resin is a thermoplastic elastomer made of flexible polyether and rigid polyamide. This SP grade has been developed to be heat and UV resistant. MAIN APPLICATIONS: • Athletic foot wear components. Hook and loop fasteners. Ski shoes. Zip fasteners. PACKAGING:
Pebax® is used in a variety of medical applications due to its: Biocompatibility. Pebax® SA grades comply with USP class VI*. Sterilizability. Pebax® can be sterilized by ethylene oxide process, steam and gamma radiation (up to 10 Mrads). Outstanding mechanical properties.
By tailoring the polymer block makeup, Arkema is able to offer a wide range of Pebax ® elastomers for industrial applications. Several grades are inherently breathable - films made from these allow the easy passage of water vapor while preventing any migration of liquid water.
