Social astuteness is the ability to accurately understand and interpret social situations, dynamics, and the behaviors of others. This skill allows individuals to navigate complex interpersonal interactions effectively, as they can pick up on social cues and nuances that others might overlook.
Studies demonstrate that social astuteness explains the relationship between proactive personality and performance, as well as personality and altruism. These results suggest that employees who are more socially astute work better, both on-the-job and in their interactions with others.
