15 Φεβ 2022 · We uncover contextual characteristics of socialization for groups and dimensions that are less commonly examined in family socialization (e.g., Black emerging adults, gender dyads in Black families, transracial adoptees, Lesbian and Gay headed-households, and socialization with the use of media).
Children learn moral values and social conventions through a process of socialization, much of which involves parenting. The process is bidirectional and involves a complex interplay between evolutionary predispositions and genetic and socio-cultural factors.
This longitudinal study helps to clarify which aspects of social relations are most likely to influence late-life episodic memory trajectories. Future intervention studies may focus on increasing social interactions with non-family members to minimize memory decline with age.
