18 Φεβ 2016 · In education, student engagement refers to the degree of attention, curiosity, interest, optimism, and passion that students show when they are learning or being taught, which extends to the level of motivation they have to learn and progress in their education.
Once student engagement in learning can be known and seen, teaching staff can react and align their teaching practice and learning resources to best support engagement and play their part to enable student engagement.
Student engagement is the “mental state students are in while they are learning, at the intersection of thinking and feeling” (p.119). Purpose. A student-centered learning environment is one where students are actively engaged with course content, their peers, and the instructor.
