23 Αυγ 2023 · Ventricular ectopy is an irregular heartbeat caused by one of the heart's two ventricles (lower chambers). It is usually not serious and shouldn't be a cause for concern. Symptoms may include heart palpitations or the feeling that your heart is skipping a beat.
Ectopic Heartbeat. An ectopic heartbeat happens when your heart beats too soon. It can feel like your heart skipped a beat or it’s racing. These heartbeat irregularities can be scary, but they usually aren’t harmful. They often result from stress, caffeine, alcohol or certain cold medications.
Ventricular ectopics are very common and most often benign. Cardiac investigations rule out underlying causes, such as heart muscle disease and establish the ectopic burden. Lifestyle measures are often sufficient to improve symptoms. Medications and catheter ablation are safe and effective.
3 Οκτ 2018 · Frequent ventricular ectopy is a common clinical presentation in patients suffering idiopathic ventricular outflow tract arrhythmias. These are focal arrhythmias that generally occur in patients without structural heart disease and share a predilection for characteristic anatomic sites of origin.
Ventricular ectopy occurs commonly. Its significance is related to the degree of complexity and the associated cardiac substrate. Coronary artery disease is the most frequent underlying cause, followed by cardiomyopathy and valvular disease.
Ventricular ectopy is commonly observed in both normal persons and those with heart disease. Ectopy may be simple or complex, with different prognostic implications for each category. Simple ventricular ectopy most often is benign and usually does not require therapy.
10 Ιουλ 2012 · Frequent ventricular ectopy can be associated with deterioration of cardiac function and may lead to VPC-induced cardiomyopathy. VPC-induced inter- and/or intraventricular dyssynchrony has been postulated as the main mechanism underlying VPC-induced left ventricular dysfunction.
