What are developmental milestones? As children grow, they develop specific abilities, like walking up stairs or recognizing colors. These are called developmental milestones. The following pages list several important milestones grouped by the age at which most children reach them. Not every child follows this timeline.
Walking. Walking is one of two big milestones parents often look for – the other is your baby’s first word. But walking takes a lot of skill and practice and your baby will need time and patience. First, they need to learn to balance, then learn to stand.
Skills such as taking a first step, smiling for the first time, and waving “bye bye” are called developmental milestones. Children reach milestones in how they play, learn, speak, act, and move. Click on the age of your child to see the milestones: 2 months. 4 months. 6 months. 9 months. 1 year.

Cover electrical outlets and remove electrical cords from baby’s reach. Put baby gates at the top and bottom of the stairs. Install toilet seat locks.
11 Φεβ 2022 · 6 to 8 months. Learns to sit. Sitting without support requires neck strength, head control, balance, and coordination – all important skills for walking. Most babies also learn to crawl between the ages of 7 and 10 months, although some skip it altogether and move straight to walking.
