Facts, location and map. Cygnus is the 16th largest constellation in the night sky, occupying an area of 804 square degrees. It lies in the fourth quadrant of the northern hemisphere (NQ4) and can be seen at latitudes between +90° and -40°. The neighboring constellations are Cepheus, Draco, Lacerta, Lyra, Pegasus, and Vulpecula.
A very large constellation, Cygnus is bordered by Cepheus to the north and east, Draco to the north and west, Lyra to the west, Vulpecula to the south, Pegasus to the southeast and Lacerta to the east. The three-letter abbreviation for the constellation, as adopted by the IAU in 1922, is "Cyg". [7] .
The Cygnus constellation is considered to be one of the most interesting areas of the night sky, due to the many deep-sky objects found within it. The “Swan” star pattern is easily recognizable for amateur astronomers in the northern hemisphere and flies through a dense area of stars in the Milky Way .
