NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) is an international military alliance consisting of 32 member states from Europe and North America. It was established at the signing of the North Atlantic Treaty on 4 April 1949. Of the 32 member countries, 30 are in Europe and two are in North America.
As of mid-March 2024, 23 of the EU-27 member countries are members of NATO-32. Thus, most of the EU member states are now also members of NATO-32, including France. This explains why this map is placed here in the "EU" section. Map.
