NATO forces in Poland consist of both Polish and allied units. Poland joined NATO in 1999. Polish forces include: [1][2] CI COE (Counter Intelligence Center of Excellence (Centrum Eksperckie Kontrwywiadu NATO) in Kraków) – created in 2017.
Poland’s road to NATO ended on March 12, 1999 in the US city of Independence, Missouri, where Poland’s foreign minister Bronisław Geremek presented the US Secretary of State the act of Poland’s accession to the North Atlantic Treaty.
Over the past years, Poland’s position in NATO has been steadily growing. We are a steadfast ally, actively steering discussions and shaping decisions at NATO Headquarters in Brussels. Polish soldiers participate in the Alliance’s missions and military operations.
