Often described as a sweet or 'cordial' style of gin, 'old tom' gins were overwhelmingly popular in the 18th and early 19th centuries, when gin was more pungent due to the limited rectification (purification) of the base spirit possible in the copper pot stills at that time.
Hernö Old Tom Gin. From the Swedish Hernö distillers comes a sweet, lip-smacking Old Tom Gin. They use the same botanical selection as their Hernö Dry Gin for this, although they've dialled up the amount of meadowsweet used.
Sweetened with a touch of sugar syrup, our Cotswolds Old Tom Gin is delicate and fragrant with notes of candied orange, light herbal notes and faint ginger spice and is delicious enjoyed either with tonic or in a Tom Collins cocktail.
