Hours: Daily, sunrise to sunset. Shellfishing Locations: Shellfishing is allowed up to the high tide shoreline, except in areas closed because of contamination. Areas for non-commercial shellfishing are in Waquoit Bay, Great River, Hamblin Pond and Popponesset Bay. Refer to the shellfishing maps.
23 Μαρ 2023 · There are designated recreational shellfishing areas at Bridge St Landing in Osterville, Little River Road in Cotuit (Handy Point Recreational Area), Scudder’s Lane (open seasonally, be sure to look at signage).
Try Some Shellfishing on Cape Cod. While it’s perfectly fine to stop by a local fish market to grab some shellfish to enjoy at your vacation rental, there’s something special about getting out to Cape Cod’s beaches to gather clams and oysters for yourself.
When you get your license, you can usually get easy-to-read maps that will show you where you can—and can’t—shellfish. Sadly there are rivers, coves, and beaches on the Cape where you can’t dig because of pollution.
