Stoker's first biographer, Harry Ludlam, wrote in 1962 that writing commenced on Dracula around 1895 or 1896. [38] Following the rediscovery of Stoker's notes in 1972 by Raymond T. McNally and Radu Florescu, [ 39 ] the two dated the writing of Dracula to between 1895 and 1897. [ 40 ]
