6 Ιαν 2019 · In general, the Bible was written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. The Hebrew and Aramaic parts were translated into Greek, then later translated into Latin. These four forms, Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, and Latin, became the basis for modern-day English translations.
10 Φεβ 2023 · Efforts to translate the Bible into Old English (Anglo-Saxon) began in the 8th century, first with the book of Psalms and then the Gospel of John. Other parts were translated as well, but these efforts were brought to a temporary halt with the Norman Invasion of England in 1066.

Similar to NETS, Septuaginta Deutsch is a project, initiated by Wolfgang Kraus and Martin Karrer, to translate the Greek Old Testament into German. The German translation will soon be published by The German Bible Society. Codex Sinaiticus is one of the most important books in the world.
The new learning in the 15th and 16th centuries revived the study of ancient Greek and led to new translations, among them an important one by the Dutch humanist Desiderius Erasmus, who in 1516 published an edition of the New Testament containing the Greek text and his own translation into Latin.
