5:15pm - Supercell thunderstorm produced its first tornado near Anthony, KS. 5:20pm - First tornado was short-lived & was on the ground for one mile. Eventually was rated an F0. 5:26pm - First tornado warning was issued for the Andover supercell with reports of a brief tornado.
A widely documented F5 tornado tore through Andover, Kansas, killing 17 people. Additional fatalities occurred from significant tornadoes in other portions of Kansas and Oklahoma, with 21 deaths recorded in total.
The outbreak produced at least 64 tornadoes across the region, including four violent tornadoes; two tornadoes, which touched down north and west of Wichita, Kansas, were both rated F5, including the tornado that struck Hesston.
26 Απρ 2021 · The deadliest tornado in Kansas history killed 80 people. It struck just after 10:30 p.m. on May 25, 1955, devastating the small community of Udall, about 30 miles southeast of Wichita.
