Illinois veterans and persons with disabilities may be eligible for tax relief through the property tax homestead exemptions and mobile home exemptions. The Disabled Persons’ Homestead Exemption is entitled to an annual exemption of 2,000 off the assessed value. This is in addition to the General Homestead Exemption and any other applicable exemptions.
Persons with disabilities exemption. A person with disabilities exemption provides an annual $2,000 reduction in the EAV of your property. The Homestead Exemption for Persons with Disabilities program offers a property tax exemption (tax break) if you have a disability. This benefit can lower the amount of property tax you pay. The exemption may lower your home’s assessed (estimated) value, up to a maximum set by the program.
Disabled Persons’ Homestead Exemption (PTAX– 343) Provides an annual $2,000 reduction in the equalized assessed value (EAV) of the property owned and occu-pied by the disabled person. To qualify you must be disabled or become disabled during the assessment
