An updated version of the FY24 Roundup Schedule was released on August 28, 2024: On December 8, 2023 the Bureau of Land Management released the FY24 Tentative 'Gather' schedule and they plan to remove another 20,000 wild horses and burros from our public lands in 2024. The 'Gather' Schedule has been revised a few times this year.

31 Αυγ 2023 · The schedule that contains operations that begin on or before October 1, are funded as part of fiscal 2023 spending. The next schedule is expected to be published at the end of September reflecting funding for fiscal 2024 (the government year begins October 1).
11 Ιαν 2024 · The largest roundup on the 2024 schedule has begun at the Black Mountain Herd Management Area (HMA) in Arizona. BLM targets 1000 burros and (if the target is hit) will release 100 treated with PZP.
The plan calls for the roundup of nearly 21,000 wild horses and burros and permanent removal of more than 19,000 from the wild by September 30th, 2024. It has sparked concerns and criticism across conservation circles and raises questions about the future of America's iconic wild equines.
