29 Σεπ 2024 · I can vouch for the Comet 2x4SR-NMO being a good antenna. The highest SWR I have across 2m, 70cm, and GMRS is 1.8. I run that antenna on my SxS with a TYT TH-8600 dual band radio. I have also used the same antenna with my Wouxun KG-XS20 G radio with great results. I am running a Comet SBB1 NMO mount on my Ford Escape due to height restrictions.

12 Δεκ 2015 · Might be easier to mount your GMRS antenna above your TV antenna. Spend additional money on the coax cable, get better/lower loss cable to make up for the longer cable run. If your TV antenna stayed up during the high winds, then adding a small base antenna on the top would probably work.
23 Ιουλ 2020 · From what I now understand, the 1/2 wave length GMRS tuned antennas are a no ground plane style antenna so I wouldn't need to worry about the grounding of my mount. So I've started looking at the LAIRD BB4502N 12.5 UHF whip antenna.

12 Ιαν 2023 · Here are two well rated antennas for GMRS. A youtube review did show that the longer 771G outperformed the shorter 701G. The tester/reviewer used the same Wouxun HT comparing the stock antenna, the 701G and the 771G.
The antenna is omni-directional and rated at 3.5 dBi gain. For testing purposes, I placed the antenna in the center of the roof with over two foot of metal in all directions. The SWR results were excellent with the target being the GMRS frequencies.
