Willie Fleming (born February 2, 1939) is a former professional Canadian football player with the Canadian Football League (CFL)'s BC Lions. Fleming played collegiately as a halfback at the University of Iowa, where he was a member of the Hawkeyes' 1959 Rose Bowl championship team.
Many consider Willie Fleming one of the greatest running backs in Canadian Football League history. Known as ‘Willie The Wisp’ for the way he made would-be tacklers miss with his sheer speed and remarkable agility, Willie played eight seasons for the BC Lions from 1959-66 and rewrote the Lions record book in that time.

Willie Fleming was known during his career as “Willie the Wisp” because of his elusive running style. During his eight seasons Fleming rushed for 6,125 yards on 868 carries, and caught 231 passes for 4,480 yards and scored 86 touchdowns, one of them on a 109-yard rushing play in a 1964 game.

The 23-year-old Willie Fleming made a huge impact on his debut when he scored four goals in a 6-0 thrashing of Kilmarnock at Parkhead on 8 November 1924. In all of football this must rank as one of the greatest debuts ever, and one of the best ever at Celtic.
