Replacing a fuel pump is not the same for every engine, but these basic steps are a good place to start. Preparation. Before you begin work on the diesel fuel pump, you need to prepare the engine. Refer to your Operation and Maintenance Manual (OMM) for detailed instructions.
Mark the position of the hoses on the old pump before removal from the engine. Replace all fuel lines that show signs of swelling, cracks, aging or leaks. Remove fuel pump to engine bolts and properly dispose of pump. Remove the old mounting gasket from the engine block and clean the surface.
Check your service manual for the proper specification. Disconnect the pressure gauge from the fuel line and reconnect the fuel line to the carburetor injector input. Unclamp the vapor return line (if applicable) and replace the carburetor air cleaner.

If your fuel pump is not delivering enough fuel pressure to meet specifications or not pumping enough fuel to keep up with the engine, it may need to be replaced. This can be completed in 12 seamless steps; however, it is recommended to have an assistant to facilitate the process.
10 Μαρ 2019 · Just pull the fuel pump relay in the rear fuse panel and then start the truck (or try to) that will depressurize your fuel line and just a couple of drops will come out when you pull the line off.
