3 Δεκ 2021 · I am having an issue where my username is causing errors in other software. The reason is because my username has a space in it, and certain engineering software I use cannot reach files in that folder or any subfolders. To remedy this I changed my username by replacing the space with an underscore.
You may need to create a new Administrative account at first. Go to the C:\users\ folder and rename the subfolder with the original user name to the new user name. Go to the registry and modify the registry value ProfileImagePath to the new path name.
9 Απρ 2016 · I tried both methods: 1) Enable Admin account from cmd prompt, and rename user folder name, and also change the registry. 2) Change the registry (Change C:\Users\thoma to C:\Users\Thomas in one of the codes), then restart.
I recently purchased a new laptop which has Windows 10 installed on it (on a Dell 5000 series laptop). However, I am unable to rename the C:\users\sherw" folder. I have tried using the command prompt to do this but receive an "Access is denied" error message.
3 Φεβ 2022 · I simply wanted to change my user folder name in Windows 10. pc\users\user-foldername. But after carrying some of the steps in this thread here each attempt to do so keeps showing me an error. An unexpected error is keeping you from renaming this folder. Error 0x80070057
28 Νοε 2023 · This tutorial will show you how to rename a user profile folder for any account (local account or Microsoft account) in Windows 10 and Windows 11. You must be signed in as an administrator to change the name of a user profile folder.
3 Σεπ 2019 · Most likely (but untested here) reason is that the folder is being guarded/accessed is its designation as a profile folder. The tutorial from TenForums edits the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\<*User SID*> path before renaming the folder.
