21 Φεβ 2010 · After a few days, some of the desktop icons disappear. However, when I click on the Desktop toolbar at the bottom of the Windows desktop, the icons that disappeared from the desktop were still present and available in the Desktop toolbar listing.

24 Απρ 2010 · I'm having an issue with icons that have suddenly gone missing in Windows 7. The icons for several programs and their associated files have been replaced with a generic Windows icon (as if there is no file association).
Just follow the steps below to easily resolve this issue. First, click the "Start" button and then click "Computer". Now click "Organize" and then click "Folder and Search Options".
Is the taskbar (start menu's bar) visible? go to task manager (control + alt + delete) --> Go to NEW TASK --> click BROWSE --> paste C:\Windows\explorer.exe on the path bar. If your icons have disappeared right click your start menu and choose the icons you want on your desktop.
Suddenly all files, folders and icons that were on my desktop have disappeared. tried making "show hidden files", no luck. tried using recovery software, but it did not find any of this files, so I assume they were not deletes.
25 Φεβ 2024 · Press the Win + D keyboard shortcut to go to your desktop environment. Right-click anywhere on your desktop. Once the context menu appears, select View and ensure there is a checkmark next to the Show desktop icons option.
