9 Μαρ 2006 · From what I've found: 32-bit systems support a total of 4gb of RAM. Windows takes this and splits it in half, using 2gb for apps, and 2gb for the kernel. If you add the /3g switch the boot.ini, then it uses 1gb for the kernel, and 3gb for apps.
The maximum memory that Windows XP will use in total is 3.25GB. There is no fundamental 4GB limit for memory in 32 bit operating systems - Windows Server 2003 can use more than 4GB.
