This tool can be used to shut down the computer with a Windows shortcut, from a script or batch file, via Scheduled Tasks, or remotely using a Telnet client. Shutdown uses the following command-line parameters:

The Command Prompt can also run batch files; these make automating tasks easy.
ClassicShutdown brings the shutdown dialog from Windows 2000 and Windows XP to modern versions of Windows. These are the command line arguments for ClassicShutdown. You pass these in the Command Prompt or use something like my Custom Shutdown Dialog Windhawk mod.
